The Ellinwood Hospital Foundation encourages contributions from individuals, corporations and other foundations and organizations interested in supporting Ellinwood Hospital and Clinic. All gifts are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law and may be designated for a specific purpose or given as an unrestricted (undesignated) donation.

Gifts to Ellinwood Hospital and Clinic are made through the Foundation and can be made in a variety of ways. We are here to guide you through whichever method you choose to make your gift.

The simplest way to make a gift is to contribute via cash, check, or credit card. You are entitled to a tax deduction for all cash gifts you make to the Foundation. This is the right gift for you if you:

  • Would like to make an outright gift to the Hospital during your lifetime

  • Itemize your deductions on your income taxes and wish to benefit from charitable deductions on your income taxes

  • Plan to sell securities that have declined in value and then donate these proceeds

You may make a gift by cash in person or by check or credit card. (Please do not send cash in the mail!)  If you mail your gift, the date of the gift is determined by the date it is received in our office. Gifts of cash may be made either in a single payment or pledged over multiple payments.  Please contact us directly to discuss pledges.

You can now donate to the Foundation online!

Some corporations encourage employees, former employees or their spouses to make charitable contributions by matching their gifts dollar-for-dollar and sometimes as much as two or three dollars for every dollar given. Please let us know if your corporation offers a matching gift program.

Throughout the year, there may be opportunities to donate items or services to the Foundation for use in the Hospital or for the Foundation to sell at a special fundraising auction. Please contact us for more information.

The Foundation accepts gifts of property and commercial or residential real estate. Donors receive substantial financial benefits. Property may be given outright to support the purposes of the Foundation and the donor may take a charitable income tax deduction based on its appraised value. Or, the donor may use a home or land that is no longer wanted or needed to fund a life income gift.

Why should I transfer appreciated stock? A gift of appreciated stock is a very attractive way to give to the Foundation.  Not only does your gift help Ellinwood Hospital and Clinic, but you may also realize substantial tax savings.  This is most advantageous when you have owned the stock for at least one year and the stock has appreciated in value.  Your gift of long-term appreciated stock will entitle you to a charitable deduction equal to the mean market value of the stock on the date of your gift, and you avoid capital gains tax on the stock's appreciation. Please contact us directly to discuss such a gift.

A gift in your will may provide outright support for the Hospital, establish a trust, or create a life income gift that will benefit both the Hospital and your heirs. You may bequeath property or cash, or a percentage of your estate. You may also designate the purpose for which you would like your gift used, or you may establish a memorial. Please contact us directly to discuss such a gift.

All gifts to the Hospital may be made In Honor of a living person or In Memory of a deceased person. Doing so is a special and personal way to honor or remember someone and we will be happy to notify the honoree and/or the family of the person being remembered when the gift has been made. The amount of your gift will remain confidential.

We welcome the opportunity to discuss other types of gifts to the Foundation (e.g., in the form of life insurance). We invite your questions and would be most pleased to discuss with you the advantages and possibilities of planning such gifts to Ellinwood Hospital and Clinic if you contact us directly.
