Ellinwood Hospital offers new walk-in clinic with telehealth-based care

Due to changes in insurance and Medicare, complete telehealth appointments are  no longer an option for many patients.  However, Ellinwood Hospital and Clinic has the solution.

 Starting in June, patients have the opportunity to be seen by a doctor remotely in clinic from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m.  on Wednesdays and Thursdays. No appointment is needed. The telehealth addition is made possible thanks to new technology that allows Dr. David Sanger remote stethoscope and otoscope usage.

“One of our nurses will perform the examination using these specialized tools,” said Dr. Sanger. “I will be able to hear directly through the stethoscope, and the otoscope will display on my screen.” 

Ellinwood Clinic previously only offered appointment-based care.

“Being able to offer a walk-in clinic to our community is so important,” said Dr. Sanger. “Our hours will allow folks to come in before work or school to be seen without an appointment.”

Patients must come to the Ellinwood Clinic to be seen.

Ellinwood Hospital and Clinic is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital and Rural Health Clinic. With an Emergency Room open 24/7, the hospital provides inpatient acute care, skilled swing bed, and intermediate swing bed care and many outpatient services: Endoscopy & outpatient Surgical Services, Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, a full-service medical Laboratory, and a full range of Imaging services – X-Ray, CT, Mobile: 3D Mammography, Dexa, Sonography, & MRI.  There is also an Outreach Clinic that provides access to a wide range of specialists including Cardiology.
